Biography
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Past President (PP) Mr. Michael SZE Cho Cheung (Class of 1964), GBS, CBE, ISO, JP, at the age of 77.
PP Michael was the 16th President of the Association and served from 1979 to 1980. He was also the founding Chairman of the La Salle Foundation, a charitable institution with the aim of promoting and advancing all aspects of education at La Salle College and Primary School. Under his leadership, the La Salle Foundation initiated major fundraising efforts which supported subsequent improvement and renovation projects of the two schools.
PP Michael was also a very prominent civil servant. He held various government positions including Secretary for Constitutional Affairs from 1991 to 1994 and Secretary for the Civil Service from 1994 to 1996. He was Executive Director of the Trade Development Council (TDC) from 1996 to 2004 and Chairman of the Operations Review Committee of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) until 2014.
