Starting a topic about OBA’s operation

To encourage members’ views and suggestions on our operations, LSCOBA has now adopted an online platform where members could start and follow on topics of interest. Topics started on the platform must be about the operation of OBA or otherwise related to the old boys’ community. 

All OBA members are eligible to start or follow a topic. 

A topic will be open for 30 days after being validated. Once 50 or more OBA members indicated their interest to follow an open topic, the OBA will provide an open response to the topic on its official website within 30 days.

Platform Rules

1. All members of OBA are eligible to start topics of interest in respect of the operation of OBA or otherwise related to the old boys’ community.
2. Any member who intends to start a topic should notify OBA in writing in the prescribed form which can be found on OBA’s official website (www.lscoba.com).
3. The topic may be in English or Chinese. However, a topic would not be permitted if:
   1. The topic or the handling of the topic would contravene any applicable law; or
   2. The topic includes unparliamentary language such as the suggestion of dishonesty or the use of profanity.
4. OBA will validate the topic as soon as practicable upon receipt. 
5. Once confirmed that the topic starter is a member of OBA and the proposed topic complies with these rules, OBA shall publish a form on its official website as soon as practicable, to gauge the interest level from members.
6. If OBA considers that the topic does not comply with these rules, OBA shall provide a written explanation to the topic starter within 14 days.
7. Once a topic is validated, OBA will publish the topic on its official website. To ensure transparency, OBA shall also disclose the name and class year of the topic starter and topic followers.
8. A validated topic will be open for 30 days for indication of interest to follow. All members of OBA are eligible to follow the topic if they consider it appropriate.
9. Once 50 or more OBA members indicated their interest to follow an open topic, the OBA will provide an open response on its official website within 30 days of the closure of the topic.
10. The LSCOBA reserves the final right to edit, publish or unpublish any content of the topic(s), or the related content.
