The 65th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival(HKSMF), the largest annual interschool music competition, is undergoing at the moment. Our Wind Orchestra and Chinese Orchestra had completed their competition in Class N470 Concert Band-Secondary School-Senior and Class N573 Chinese Instrumental Group – Secondary School – Senior respectively both on 6th March, 2013 at Tuen Mun Town Hall Auditorium.
I am very pleased to report that both Orchestra have captured the Champion in both classes by defeating Diocesan Boys’ School by 1 mark. It should be highlighted that it is first time in La Salle history to have two orchestra capturing the highest title in the same year of HKSMF. Besides, it is also the first time for our Wind Orchestra to capture both the Overall Champion in the Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows (HKYMF) and the Champion in the HKSMF in order to achieve a grand slam.
On behalf of the Music Board, LSCOBA, I would like to congratulate our young musicians and extend my heartfelt gratitude to the conductor of Wind Orchestra, Mr. Kelvin Ngai and the conductor of Chinese Orchestra, Mr Ng Chiu Shing as well as the Teacher Advisors, Mr Christian Wan and Mr Alfred Lam for their invaluable guidance and support towards the orchestras. Recognition must be also towards the Orchestra Captains and Committee members as well as all members for their industrious work throughout the past few months.
We would also like to express our most sincere wishes to the Symphony Orchestra which will be attending Class N244 Symphony Orchestra – Secondary School – Senior at 1515 on 26th March, 2013 (Tues) also at Tuen Mun Town Hall Auditorium. All old boys are welcomed to support our musicians by going there directly. Tickets are not required.
