The Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) is the delivery agent of the Government’s elite sports training programmes. It provides an environment where sports talent can be identified, nurtured, and developed in the pursuit of excellence in the international sporting arena. The Sports Science Strength and Conditioning Department within the HKSI provides comprehensive services such as testing, analysis, programme design and training monitoring to help coaches in planning for improvements in training. Athletes take part in scientific testing, strengthening programmes, and recovery strategies based on individual assessment.
Sports science officers, with Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist qualifications, will demonstrate state-of-the-art equipment such as environmental chamber, high speed giant treadmill for sprinters, and hyperbaric hyperoxia chamber. Some simple field testing equipment and measuring procedures will be introduced for better understanding of a systematic testing and training monitoring system in a school-base setting. Sports instructors and coaches, sports subject teachers, and teachers responsible for different sports in LSPS and LSC, are welcome to join the visit as well.
