Alumni Manager Election 2024: Nomination & Result

Date: 5 July 2024

Dear Old Boys of La Salle College,

Reference is made to the Notice of the Alumni Manager Election 2024 for the Incorporated Management Committee (the “IMC”) of La Salle College dated 11 June 2024.

As of the deadline of the nomination period (3:00 pm on 26 June 2024), I only received one (1) nomination form submitted by Dr. Wong Daniel (Class of 1999) and Dr. Wong’s nomination form was subsequently verified and confirmed by LSCOBA.

According to paragraph 22 of the Rules of Procedures for the Alumni Manager Election for the IMC, if there is only one eligible candidate, no election shall be conducted and the said only candidate shall be declared the successful candidate. In this regard, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Wong Daniel (Class of 1999) shall be nominated to the IMC as the Alumni Manager of La Salle College for the next term. LSCOBA will submit the relevant information for the registration of Dr. Wong Daniel as the Alumni Manager of La Salle College for the next term.

Yours in de La Salle,

William YAN (Class of 1974)
Returning Officer, Alumni Manager Election 2024, La Salle College

Appendix I
Statement of Personal Introduction from the Candidate

I am Daniel Wong, a Lasallian since 1991, and I am submitting my candidacy to be the Alumni Manager of our alma mater. As a lifelong Lasallian who graduated from La Salle Primary School in 1994 and La Salle College in 1999, I identify strongly with our Lasallian educational environment and Catholic atmosphere (through my service for the Legion of Mary).

I believe I can be an effective bridge between Old Boys and our beloved alma mater, because I am a deep listener with a strong drive towards excellence. As a consultant obstetrician & gynaecologist, and chief of service at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, my daily life revolves around understanding people’s concerns and finding ways to help them.

For the past 2 years, I have been a Committee member of the La Salle College Old Boys’ Association (LSCOBA), responsible for the Religious subcommittee and Class Coordination. This year, I am also standing for the election of the OBA President, which I hope will empower my teams’ Lasallian community outreach while refreshing ourselves in the La Salle Spirit.

On the education side, I am the Director of Nethersole Clinical Stimulation Training Centre and a Honorary Clinical Associate Professor in Medicine at HKU and CUHK. I also serve as the School Sponsoring Body Manager in Tai Kok Tsui Catholic Primary School (Hoi Fan Road) and as the Chairperson in Diocesan Committee of Bioethics. I hope to bring to La Salle these experiences at the primary, secondary, tertiary, and Catholic levels, to make our school a better place for all stakeholders.
