Message from Leonard Chu, LSCOBA President for term 2014-2015

Dear fellow Old Boys,

It is my honor and privilege to be elected as the LSCOBA President and together with my cabinet, we are committed to use our best endeavors to carry out the mission of the LSCOBA.

The primary objective of the LCSOBA is to promote fraternity and this is exactly what we are going to concentrate our efforts on this year. In the past, the activities organized by the OBA have been mostly sports related or “wine and dine” related. Of course we will continue to organize these fun and meaningful events — and while we are on the topic, do take note that we will be having our Xmas Ball on December 13, 2014 (121314) at the HKCEC, so please mark your calendar. What we would like to try to do this year is bring together more Old Boys. As such, we are planning to organize activities that are more heritage and cultural related, more family oriented, in order to bring out more Old Boys who might not otherwise be interested in sports or “wine and dine” functions.

We are also planning to expand the Professional Network with committee members in the legal, medical and finance/accounting professions acting as convenors of the professional network group in their respective professions, so that Old Boys can share and support each other in their field of work. All in all, we simply want more Old Boys to meet each other and encourage their active interaction.

Another one of our priorities this year is to connect Old Boys globally and to strengthen the communication within the Overseas Network Group. I will be attending the Global Reunion 2014 in Los Angeles in August, a very meaningful event organized every other year. This will be the third consecutive Global Reunion that I am attending overseas to meet with Old Boys residing in North America. I also plan to visit the overseas chapters in the UK, Singapore and Shanghai in the next 12 months. There is simply no replacement for a handshake and a smile and I look forward to meeting as many Old Boys as possible as we work together to connect Old Boys globally.

My team and I are committed to doing all we can to support the School and La Salle Foundation in fund raising and other initiatives.

I would now like to introduce you to my great team – please refer to the link to the profile of my cabinet.

Together we will work hard to bring more Old Boys together!

Yours in de La Salle,
Leonard Chu (83)
