Dear fellow Lasallians,
Allow me to start off by being cliché: Time flies and it seems like yesterday when I as given the privilege to become the President of the Association. As my first term comes to a close, I would like to borrow a quote from a British author Joyce Rachelle, “There is never enough time to enjoy what you love”. And I have enjoyedevery second of it.
There are many individuals I owe my gratitude to as I look back at the exciting 12 months that flew by. Do allow me to first say a big thank you topast president Dr Bernard Kong. He is the one who brought me into the LSCOBA committee when I began my journey to serve the community way back in 2004. I have worked with a number of presidents over the past 14 years and they have shared with me generously on what it takes to be a responsible and respectful president. In particular, the unique leadership qualities and character that is required of me. I salute to all past presidents and cabinets on their contributions. I wouldalso like to give my sincere thanks to IPP Mr Roger Lee, for his unfailingsupport, guidance and advice over the past two years, of which I will be foreverindebted to.
For those who know me, I am often referred to as the “Football-Man”. It should not come as a surprise that by design and by choice, we kicked off the term with a series of Sports events starting September
– Christian Brothers’ Cup basketball with Campus TV live Broadcast
– LSCOBA Football League Cup Final with Live Broadcast from Campus TV with a professional old boy commentator
– Interschool Alumni Badminton Tournament, co-hosted by the OBA
Other major events held during the year:
– Doctors’ Dinner
– Old Boys’ Music Concert
– LSCOBA X’mas Ball: “La Salle’s Got Talent”
– Professional Network Gatherings
– Spring Dinner
– Doctors’ Football Tournament
– Charity Movie Day
– Careers Day
This term has been filled with activities of a wide variety. Such achievements would not have been possible without the dedication of my committee members as well as the support from old boys. I express my sincere gratitude to you all. The past 12 months would not have been as smooth and fun as it had been without you.
The year 2019 marks the 80th anniversary of the LSCOBA and we have planned a number of events in the latter half of the year to celebrate this special occasion of the Association. Stay tuned.
It is always a challenging and exciting task to serve the old boys’ community. I have every intention to continue my contribution while encouraging a wider participation by old boys from all years. Do feel free to let me know of any suggestions or ideas [email protected].
Last but not least, our college Vice Principal, Miss Cecilia Tang, who joined the college in 1981, will be retiring this school year. On behalf of the Old Boys’ Association, we wish her a happy retirement.
Yours in de La Salle
Herman Bo (89)
LSCOBA President 2018-19
