Interschool Athletics Meet, LSCOBA Spring Dinner, Happy Hour session, Horse Racing Day

Dear Fellow Old Boys,

Spring is in the air!

Although it may not feel so now with the longest cold spell Hong Kong has not seen in years still dropping temperature to the low teens, March is already here and summer won’t be far away.

March is of course the month for the Interschool Athletics Meet, a major event in the sporting calendar of the College, to be held in Wan Chai Stadium on the 5th (Wednesday, Day 1), 11th (Tuesday, Day 2) and 14th (Friday, Final Day). All events will start at 8:30am. For detailed information, you can visit the following webpage: http://www.hkssf-hk.org.hk/hk/sec/events/ath.htm

As tradition would have it, the LSCOBA Spring Dinner will be held on the 14th March, right after the Finals of the Interschool Athletics Meet, in Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant , 4/F China Resources Bldg, next to the Wan Chai Stadium. So, go support our school team and come in to join the fun and festivities of the Spring Dinner. Reservation details can be found in the newsletter or at the following URL:https://www.lscoba.com/news/announcements/springdinner2008.html or you can call the OBA administrator at 23362685 during office hours.

The next Happy Hour session is scheduled for 18th April (Friday) from 6:30pm at the China Coast Bar, 3/F Mariners* Club, Middle Road, TST. Mark Huang (85), our Vice President, resident historian and author of the Jubilee History Book ※Sons of La Salle Everyone§, will give a brief talk about his research while writing the book, the history and other little known facts about La Salle in Hong Kong. Some of these were NOT included in the book and you will be hearing them for the first time.

In June, a long lost tradition of the Association, the Horse Racing Day, will be revived. The OBA has been working with The Hong Kong Jockey Club to set up the La Salle Challenge Cup as the feature race in a weekend race day in June. Old Boy horse owners are encouraged to enter their horses for this inaugural race while all Old Boys, race fans or otherwise, are welcome to join this exciting event. Look out for more details which will be announced soon on the www.lscoba.com website, the newsletter and by email.

I hope to see you at these events.

Yours in de La Salle,

Charles K. Chan ’77
President, LSCOBA 2007-08
