The golfers’ interest to join our tournament was more encouraging on this occasion with 32 old boys joining the event held on 2 December 2011 at the Huizhou Birds Golf Course (惠州候鳥高爾夫球場). The clubhouse was completely refurbished recently, and with the blessing of Mother Nature again we had sunny blue sky and a moderate breeze to enjoy our day out. For the first time in our history, our “teaching-pro” Alvin Choi (97) finally decided to bite the bullet and play off “scratch” instead of his true handicap to compete with the other fellow old boys. After the round, we all enjoyed the camaraderie amongst the fellow old boys with the beer and laugh during lunch, and we sang our school song following the prize presentation before heading back to HK. The winners were as follows: Champion Leonard Chu (83) Second Michael Tang (76) Third Michael Tse (75) Best Score Leonard Chu (83) Best Front 9 Ian Kwok (81) Best Back 9 Tony Cheung (77) Longest Drive Ian Kwok (81) Nearest Pin Paulus Choi (78) George Chan (78) Henry Lam (83) Leonard Chu (83) Our sincere congratulations to Leonard Chu (83) for successfully defending his “doubles” by matching his personal best round of 5 over. This also means that he was required to donate HK$2,250 to the golfers’ funds according to the La Salle golfers’ local rules. I would like to thank my organizing committee members Thomas Tung (77) and Ian Kwok (81) for their unfailing support to help me in organizing this event.I have also announced that the tentative date for the next golf event will be held on 11 May 2012 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of our Alma Mater. Stay tuned. Roger (75) December 2011 |
