We are honoured and pleased that Mr. Wesley Wong (Class of 1987), the newly appointed Solicitor General of Hong Kong, has kindly agreed to be our guest speaker at the forthcoming Legal Network Dinner to be held at the Verandah, The Foreign Correspondents’ Club (FCC) on 1st February 2016 (Monday).

Mr. Wong has agreed that the dinner will be an “old boy’s exclusive” informal sharing session, in which we can exchange views on any matter relating to his experience, LSC memories, the Department of Justice or any topic relating to the legal profession. Brief biography of Mr. Wesley Wong Wai-chung, SC:

Mr. Wong assumed the office of the Solicitor General of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (法律政策專員) in September 2015. In that capacity, he heads the Legal Policy Division of the Department of Justice which is responsible, inter alia, for the formulation of legal policy, advising the government on constitutional, electoral and human rights issues and assisting the Secretary for Justice in carrying out his role in promoting relevant government bills.

Mr. Wong was called to the Hong Kong Bar in 1993 and served pupillage under the Legal Trainee Scheme at the then Legal Department. He was appointed Crown Counsel in 1994 and rose through the ranks, having been posted to different divisions within the department. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2013 and is an accredited mediator.
