LSCOBA 2000 Spring Golf Tournament
The 12th golf outing organized by the Association was held at Palm Island Golf Club,
Huizhou( ´f¦{ ), China on 26th May 2000. With a few last minute withdrawal due to business commitments or injury,
there were still 32 La Salle old boys who turned up for this event.
Our chartered coach left Queen's Pier in Central at 6:45 a.m. After we had crossed
the Chinese border, Lok Hing Sun (82) joined us in his "Pajero" and led us all the way to the golf club.
I am sure most of the participating old boys would agree with me that the condition of Palm Island at the moment
was excellent and indeed one could hardly find another golf course in this part of Guangdong nowadays that
allows golf carts to go on the fairway (forgive my ignorance if I am wrong).
Tony Cheung (77) (the footballers and badminton players in the mid-70s would probably know him
by his nickname ·àÀY rather than his real name) shot his personal best, a round of 79, which earned him
an incredible 49 Stableford points to become the Champion. This is also the lowest gross score and the
highest score of Stableford points in the history of our golf events. The winners are as follows :-
