Dear Lasallian,
Day 1 of the Interschool Athletics meet was completed on 5th March,
with our sportsmen performing better than expected. The overall
standing is LSC at 109 points with DBS with 98, and the new athletics
power house and our fellow Christian Brothers School, Chong Gene Hang
College with 91 points.
The points gained on Day 1 consists of the standard points of the
track and field events, as well as the final positions of field
events. All track events are still at the "heats" or
"semi finals" stage, so the standing at the moment may or
may not be a good indication of how things might turn out to be in
Days 2 and 3, on 11th and 14th respectively.
What is clear, however, is that the competition seems to be closer
and
more exciting than ever before, especially when there are 3 top
schoolsscrambling for the top positions and the points in each event.
Also, it's been noted that competition also seems to be relatively
more even across a wider spectrum of schools. Thus, the scene where
DBS and LSC fighting and shining in the top spots in most events may
far less frequent than what was witnessed in yester-years.
This in turn translates to the importance of the good performance of
our athletes on the day for however small a point, and how crucial
the roll of supporters on the run up to the finals, and during the
races.
Please show your support to our La Salle Athletes by either:
1. Sharing a line or two of encouragements on the chatboard. The
Student Association will then forward our messages to all students
and
athletes. PLEASE follow this link and post a few words of support
for
the boys

Alternately, you may wish to send an Email message to Stanley Shum
(84)
(stanshum@graduate.hku.hk) who is also a teacher in LSC. Stanley has
promised to collect all encouragement messages and share them with
the Athletes.
Or
2. Come a support the boys on Day 2 (next Tuesday) or Day 3 (next
Friday) in Wan Chai Stadium. Many Old Boys will be wearing red, one
of our school colors, to show our support and solidarity with the
boys and LSC.
