Inter-school Athletics Meet
The 2002 Inter-school Athletics Meet event has arrived! LSCOBA
gives
members of the athletics team its utmost support and wish them
every
success in capturing the Overall Championship in the Inter-school
Athletics Meet.
Our almighty athletics team out-shone the other teams on Day 1 and 2
of the Meet. We are currently leading our rival DBS by 2 points
overall and we are 42 points clear of our brother school CGHC who is
in overall third position. Although we had a wonderful start to the
game, it is far from over and the athletics team needs all the
support they can get from us. Please show our support to the
team by attending Day 3 of the event at WanChai on 15th of March,
this Friday. For LaSallians who cannot make it to the event, you can
show your support by posting encouraging messages on our Chatboard.
Please refer to the Sports Update secton of this newsletter and our
Chatboard at www.lscoba.com for more details.

Moving into the Technology Age
In an effort to provide the school with a 'High-Tech' environment,
every teacher is now equipped with their own Compaq notebook
computer. In addition, LCD projectors are being installed in each
classroom. This combination gives our teachers the convenience of
simply 'plugging' their notebook computers into the projectors for
displaying teaching materials to students.

Sports Update
Handball
This is the first year LSC is taking part in the handball
event. We were told that the participating students are mainly
students who are not involved in other interschool sports teams.
Thus
the school is very happy that more students (in absolute numbers)
are
representing the school in different sports, and sharing the honor
and
memories of being a "school team member". Well done to our
new
sportsmen!

straight
final, not a heat).
Observations of an Old Boy as of 12 March after Day 1:
This year, we have a fairly balanced team with no major weaknesses
in
all three grades. However, early on in the season we started to
hear
that our fellow Christian Brother's School CGHC has produced a very
strong team. CGHC has always been a force in the interschool
athletic scene, but this is yet the strongest squad that has
been witnessed in years. Using Day 1's results as a rough gauge,
CGHC
stands a chance to capture the A and C grade titles if they put up
a
good fight with LSC. Our B grade should be able to make up the
deficits created, if any, by the two other grades to stand a good
chance to capture the Overall Championship title.
DBS has a relatively weak team this year, and may even be edged out
of
the runner-up titles in certain grades and the possibly find
themselves in 2nd runner up place in the overall standings. However,
DBS is still a strong force to be reckoned in many events, and what
show they perform on Day 2 and Day 3 still remains to be seen.
Notably, it will be particularly exasperating to LSC to be eluded
of
the A grade title even though we beat DBS, but then lose to CGHC.
DBS
has always been the clear leader of this grade over the years as
they
amass excellent athletes in this senior grade. Let's give our full
support to the boys on the Final Day at Wanchai, where hopefully they
can give their best and edge CGHC out in all grades.
