Paul Chow, an old boy of the Class of 65, has close to 40 years of business and management experience. He was appointed Chief Executive of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) on 1 May 2003. Prior to that Mr. Chow was the Chief Executive, Asia Pacific ex-Japan Region, of HSBC Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited for six years. From November 1991 to January 1997, Mr. Chow was the Chief Executive of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited and before that, he was the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited for two years. Prior to that he was with Sun Hung Kai Securities from 1973. He started his career in 1970 as an Executive Officer II in the Civil Service before joining IBM Hong Kong. Mr. Chow is currently a member of the Council and Court of the University of Hong Kong. He is also a member of the Standing Committee on Company Law Reform and the Vice-chairman of the World Federation of Exchanges. Mr. Chow holds a B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Diploma in Management Studies and an MBA degree from the University of Hong Kong, and a Diploma in Finance (Distinction) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is also a Fellow of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries and a Distinguished Fellow of the Hong Kong Computer Society.
