Message by the Convenor of LSCOBA Shanghai Chapter
LSCOBA Expands in Shanghai
¨When the old boys come together, they will always sing this song〃. Be it at La Salle Road, Hong Kong, or at Huihai Zhong Road, Shanghai, the song never loses its beat. A defining
moment was drawn upon in La Salle old boy History as 26 old boys cerebrated the inauguration of the first La Salle old boy chapter in Mainland in Shanghai on 28th October.
¨It was a natural extension for the old boy family to establish a chapter in Shanghai as the population of Lasallian residing and working in Shanghai has been rapidly growing in recent years,.〃 said Jim Yip, the new convenor for the LSCOBA Shanghai Chapter.
¨Wonderful supports from many old boys in the past, particularly from David Fong, have made it possible today for the establishment of Shanghai Chapter. We are all very proud to be part of it. As Shanghai continues to lure talents from everywhere
to support its growing economy, I strongly believe that the La Salle old boy Shanghai Chapter will only go from strength to strength,〃 continued Jim Yip.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the current LSCOBA president Dr. Bernard Kong and his committee members Charles Chan, Alan Lui, Gordon Fong and Dennis Lam as well as several old boys who specifically flied in to attend the event.
¨I am proud to see the first old boy chapter set up in our motherland. We now have a stronger platform to foster fraternity amongst old boys here in Shanghai. LSCOBA supports your chapter. Sharing this joy also includes Brother Thomas who asked me
to send his blessing to the Chapter and every one of you,〃 said Dr. Kong.
Dr Kong presented a La Salle School flag and the Lasallite 2005, a gift from Brother Thomas to the Shanghai Chapter.
One major highlight of the night, the La Salle school song was for the first time proudly sung in Shanghai, perhaps the best melody in this karaoke-frenzied city.
