Message from Principal
March 20, 2007
Dear Old Boys,
It is my honour and great pleasure to send this message to you as Principal of La Salle College.
Over the years, La Salle College has enjoyed strong and steady support and encouragement from our old boys, who have zealously followed all our functions, given us constructive and invaluable advice, and generously and selflessly supported the school. The old boys serve as excellent role models for our students who need both guidance and loving care. To many of you, I am sure the school is already part of your roots, a position enjoyed similarly by your family and close friends. I would like to let you know that we treasure this unique relationship which we will always value and deeply appreciate.
In the coming years, I look forward to closely working with you all. Besides maintaining our strength such as sports and academic excellence, my immediate goals are as follows: (1) to provide a smooth passage for the implementation of the new NSS curriculum; (2) to maintain always good discipline in the school and (3) to create a language-rich environment for our students.
In school, I shall follow a policy of transparency and consultation. I value each and everyone on the staff. In the new NSS Curriculum, our students will take four core subjects and three electives. Religious Education will also be one of the electives. Christian life in school will continue to be strengthened by all students taking Religious Education in the Other Learning Areas and will be a prerequisite for obtaining a school leaving certificate. I believe this is of utmost importance. Liberal Studies will also be introduced in Form 3 in 2008-2009 as a trial run and to familiarize our students with this new subject.
The staff and I will try our best to maintain La Salle's elite status among HK schools. Our main focus is on teaching and learning. I shall continue to follow the good examples of Brother Thomas, Brother Patrick and the Brothers. I shall always work closely with the old boys and will lend a close ear to your kind counsel.
I am grateful for all your kind words and support and I look forward to walking with you all for the good and future of La Salle.
Sincerely,
Wong Yen Kit
